Hereford River Carnival brings Carnival sunshine to Britain’s favourite river over Friday 4th and Saturday 5th May

Please check out the online form here and volunteer if you can.

The River Carnival is Herefordshire’s biggest, brightest community event and it’s run entirely by a bunch of dedicated, fun-loving volunteers but we’d love to have some more.

Could you help by volunteering some timeon Friday 4th and/or Saturday 5th May?  By joining the River Carnival Team, you’ll have the chance to make friends, meet new people, have fun and help make Herefordshire’s biggest community party a success

There are lots of different ways you can help – you can volunteer for an hour, a day or anything in between – it’s up to you.

We will provide food and refreshments – If you sign up, HRC will provide you with sandwiches and snacks plus tea/coffee/water at the event.

You can attend a Volunteers Meeting before the event – you can meet us in person before the event, ask questions, receive any training your role requires and a briefing on what you need to do.

You can volunteer as an individual, a family, a group, a couple whatever your age or experience – HRC is an inclusive, community led event so come and join the fun!

Get Festival and Event Experience a brilliant opportunity for those interested in working at festivals or in Event Management. Get involved now and on the 4th and 5th May!

Some things you might do:

Production team: an essential behind the scenes team! If you are experienced in event production or would like to get some experience, please get in touch. We have production roles for you starting now or just on the 4th and 5th May. You will have a varied role and an over view of the whole event. You will work with our Event Manager to ensure it is a successful and enjoyable day for all our visitors, participants and volunteers.

Donation collector: for this role we are looking for volunteers who love talking and interacting with people! The team will be led by our friendly Donations Manager and you will be paired up or working in small teams.

Steward: The friendly face of HRC – looking after our visitors, providing information and ensuring the event is safe for participants and visitors alike. A really important and varied role, you will be supported throughout the day by our wonderful Volunteer Coordinator and Event Manager.

We will need Stewards for the evening of Friday 4th and all day on Saturday 5th May. You will receive a briefing prior to the event so even if you have never done something like this, we will support you!

Information stall: On the evening of Friday 4th May we will need a team of helpful and friendly volunteers who will help hand out programmes on Cathedral Close and Bishops Meadow where the night time performance starts and ends. On Saturday 5th May, we will have two main info stalls, one on Castle Green and the other on Bishops Meadow. You will be the fountain of knowledge, have programmes and information for visitors and participants, including site maps. You will have the important role of knowing where the toilets are!

Welfare: you will be part of small team who will be around site making sure everyone is happy and being looked after, including our volunteers. You will be responsible for recognising if anyone needs a quite space out of the crowds, looking after lost children and reporting any anti-social behaviour to the Event Manager. We have a professional medical team on site throughout the event to which our welfare team will direct anyone needing medical assistance.

Traffic marshals/car parking: we will need a special Traffic Marshal Team who will carry out road closures and marshal the crowds on the evening of Friday 4th and during the Street Carnival on Saturday 5th May. We would love to hear from anyone with this experience although we can also provide training and buddy you up with someone who is experienced.

We also need people to help marshal traffic on both event sites early in the morning, during the day and into the evening. This will entail showing people where to park or unload and above all ensuring the safety of the public. You will be directed by The Event Manager.

Please check out the online form here and volunteer if you can.
