Carnival of Sport – New to the 2017 Carnival!

Have-A-Go Sports and Wellness Activities from wonderful local independent clubs and groups, including Hereford Drift Trikes – tricycles that have slick rear wheels, designed to drift by intentionally removing traction from the rear wheels, and counter-steering to negotiate corners – all programmed by the fantastic Halo Leisure.

See below for the 2017 itinerary and we plan to add more sports including rugby, tennis, hockey and many more for 2018.

ALL DAY: Halo Leisure’s swimming lesson coordinator and customer adviser will be on hand in the Halo Gazebo to give info on swimming and other activities. HALO SPECIAL OFFER for River Carnival day only, 29 April: No enrolment fee, and one month FREE when you sign up to a complete committed membership. ALL DAY HEREFORD FOOTBALL CLUB: are running drop-in quick football sessions, and you can try your best shots in the Speed Cage and get an instant reading displaying the speed of the ball!

COMPETITION: Results will be collected all day and winners in 4-6yrs, 7-9yrs, 10-11yrs and 12-14yrs will gain a Free place on their Whitsun Soccer School, with a Nando’s voucher for winners in the 15-18yrs and 19yrs+ agegroups!

ALL DAY HEREFORD ROLLER GIRLS: of Hereford Roller Derby – Herefordshire’s first and only senior Roller Derby League. Look out for them skating in the Street Carnival, and come and chat and view their equipment in their stall

10:00am-5:00pm: Introduce children to the game of golf on the Putting Green on Bishops Meadow, though adults also attest to the delight of succeeding with a hole-in-one from long range! The putting green features 18 challenging holes graded in order of difficulty. Score cards entered throughout the day into a PRIZE DRAW.

10:00am-5:00pm: Bike Hire from the Tennis Hut on Bishops Meadow Taste the freedom and fitness benefits of cycling via quick, easy, accessible and affordable bike hire. On display: 4 new specialist bikes which are more accessible for riders with physical and mobility difficulties.

11:00am-12:00noon & 1:00pm-2:00pm: HEREFORD JUDO CLUB – demonstrations and tasters offered by this family-orientated club based at Hereford Leisure Centre – all ages welcome to come along and give it a try.

11:00am, 1:00pm & 4:00pm: HEREFORDSHIRE CRICKET LTD’S mission is to ensure that cricket flourishes in Herefordshire – 30-minute taster sessions open to all ages.

12:00noon onwards – HEREFORD YOGA CENTRE – Beginner’s Yoga – children’s and adults’ taster sessions

12:00noon-2:00pm & 3:30pm-5:30pm – HEREFORD VOLLEYBALL taster sessions – all welcome, male, female and juniors (must be 9yrs+ to take part), and all abilities.

12:00noon-1:30pm WALKING FOOTBALL: The Beautiful Game…at a slower pace, usually aimed at 50yrs and over – very popular variation of football in which any player
