City of Hereford Rotary Club’s famous Charity Duck Race with its £1,000 top prize forms a fitting Grand Finale to the Hereford River Carnival.
The ever-popular, fundraising Duck Race on the Wye has now become a firm fixture of Hereford River Carnival as the climax to the event on the afternoon of Saturday 5th May 2018.
According to Luke Conod of City of Hereford Rotary Club, “It only costs £2 a duck and the winner will walk off with £1,000 cash prize as well as some fabulous runners up prizes kindly donated by some fantastic Hereford businesses including All Seasons Travel, Rural Concierge and the Stagecoach.
“As well as being great fun, the most important thing is that City of Hereford Rotary Club’s charities all benefit from the generosity of those buying ducks as all monies raised go straight back into local, national and international charities, so it’s a win win all round. In 2017, we sold out of ducks – that’s more than we have ever sold.
In 2017, SHYPP, St. Michael’s Hospice, Hope Support Services, REMAP HFD, the Tear Fund and Polio Eradication are among the charities who will benefit.
“Ducks come in two colours, yellow and green. The yellow ducks are for individuals and cost £2; their green cousins are for businesses and cost only £25.”
Ducks can be bought by contacting a member of River Carnival team firstname.lastname@example.org or a member of City of Hereford Rotary Club via Luke on email@example.com or by visiting the Rotary Club stalls (on Castle Green and Bishops Meadow) on the day.
